Staple Length

The average length of a spinnable fiber is called Staple Length. Staple length is also most important fiber characteristics.
It influences:
1.      Spinning limit.
2.      Yarn evenness.
3.      Handle of the product.
4.      Luster of the product.
5.      Yarn hairiness.
6.      Productivity.
The Staple Length groupings are currently used in the trade staple:
1.      Short Staple: 1inch or less.
2.      Medium staple: 1.03 to 1.125 inch.
3.      Long staple: 1.16 to 1.38 inch.
          4.      Extra long staple: 1.09 and above.
